The 6 of Cups upright can symbolize wistful thinking. You could be remembering a time when life was easier, when you experienced special times. You may be remembering a relationship that is no longer in your life or that has changed. You may miss a skill you haven’t used in a while, or miss a part of your carrer that was meaningful. Today’s draw finds me holding the 6 of Cups reversed. Relative to the past, it can indicate that you have a place in your heart for those memories – yet, as good as they were you understand that that was then and this is now.
As I look upon the card it takes away some of longing that I sometimes feel about the 6 of Cups and replaces it with an acceptance of reality, of the way things are in your life. Acceptance does not diminish the new/current experiences – neither does it deplete or lessen the memories from the past.
If you find yourself thinking about the past today, it’s the influence of this card. Never lose sight of the fact that we constantly build new memories and that one day you may be wistful about a moment from this one!
